Zonisamide is used to treat partial-onset seizures, either alone or with other antiseizure drugs. While not requiring routine monitoring in most patients, blood level testing can be useful in patients with breakthrough seizures, suspected toxicity, pregnancy, kidney impairment, or when drug interactions may alter levels.
