This PCR-based wound panel detects DNA from a broad spectrum of pathogens commonly found in skin and soft tissue infections, including organisms that are slow-growing or difficult to culture. Resistance gene detection allows clinicians to anticipate which antibiotics are most likely to be effective.
This test is especially valuable in chronic, non-healing wounds, diabetic foot ulcers, surgical site infections, pressure injuries, and infected burns. It is also useful in patients with prior antibiotic exposure, who often have suppressed bacterial growth that limits standard cultures. Results are typically available within 1-2 days. Sample type is a wound swab or tissue specimen collected per provided guidelines.
