The thyroid profile with TSH measures multiple thyroid-related hormones in a single panel, typically including TSH, total T4, total T3 or T3 uptake, and free thyroxine index. Together these values reveal both how well the thyroid is producing hormones and how the pituitary gland is signaling the thyroid.
This panel is used when comprehensive thyroid assessment is needed, including evaluation of patients with symptoms of thyroid dysfunction (such as fatigue, weight changes, palpitations, or temperature intolerance), monitoring known thyroid disease, assessing patients with goiter or thyroid nodules, and following patients on thyroid replacement or antithyroid medications. Sample type is serum.
