Propoxyphene (Darvon) was withdrawn from the U.S. market in 2010 due to cardiac safety concerns. Testing remains useful in evaluating historical exposure, in regions where the drug may still be available, and in certain forensic and clinical settings. LC-MS/MS identifies both the parent drug and its primary metabolite norpropoxyphene.
This test is used in selected forensic and clinical situations. Sample type is urine.
