MICROALBUMIN, 24 HR URINE

A 24-hour urine collection provides the most precise measure of urinary albumin excretion, eliminating the variability of single-sample testing. Increased albumin in urine is an early marker of kidney damage and is particularly important in diabetes, hypertension, and certain glomerular diseases.

This test is used when precise quantification of albumin excretion is needed — such as in confirming or staging chronic kidney disease, monitoring response to treatment, and evaluating nephrotic-range proteinuria. Patient education about proper collection technique is essential for accurate results. Sample type is a 24-hour urine collection.
