Lacosamide is used for partial-onset seizures, either alone or with other antiseizure drugs. While routine therapeutic drug monitoring isn't generally required, blood level testing helps in patients with breakthrough seizures, suspected toxicity (dizziness, double vision, ataxia), during pregnancy, in kidney impairment, or when drug interactions may alter levels.
This test is used to confirm therapeutic ranges, evaluate toxicity, guide dosing during pregnancy or kidney dysfunction, and assess compliance. Sample type is serum.
