HbA1c reflects average blood sugar over the past 2-3 months. The Mean Blood Glucose estimation translates HbA1c percentage into an average glucose value in mg/dL, making it easier for patients to relate the HbA1c number to their daily glucose readings.
This test is used to diagnose and monitor diabetes, assess long-term glucose control, and support patient education about glucose management. The MBG estimate provides a more intuitive metric for many patients. Sample type is whole blood in an EDTA tube.
