This panel typically includes tissue transglutaminase IgA, deamidated gliadin peptide antibodies (IgA and IgG), and sometimes additional markers. Together, these antibodies help distinguish celiac disease from non-celiac gluten sensitivity and from other GI conditions with similar symptoms.
This panel is used to evaluate patients with GI symptoms (diarrhea, bloating, abdominal pain), unexplained iron deficiency anemia, growth failure in children, or family history of celiac disease. Patients should be consuming gluten when tested — a gluten-free diet can produce false-negative results. Sample type is serum.
