The CMP combines key markers of metabolic, kidney, and liver health: glucose, calcium, electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride, CO2), BUN, creatinine, albumin, total protein, ALT, AST, alkaline phosphatase, and bilirubin. Adding estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) — calculated from creatinine, age, and sex — provides a more practical measure of kidney function.
This panel is used for routine health checks, evaluation of symptoms such as fatigue or weight changes, pre-procedural assessment, and monitoring of chronic conditions including diabetes, hypertension, liver disease, and kidney disease. Patients are typically asked to fast for 8-12 hours for accurate glucose results. Sample type is serum.
