This streamlined CBC includes the core blood parameters — red cell indices, total white blood cell count, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and platelet count — but omits the detailed differential of white blood cell types. It is useful when a general blood health assessment is needed without specific evaluation of white cell subtypes.
This panel is often used in routine wellness exams, monitoring of stable chronic conditions, follow-up testing in patients with established baselines, and pre-procedural screening. If abnormalities are detected, a reflex differential can be added. Sample type is whole blood in an EDTA tube.
