Class C beta-lactamase DHA|MOX|CMY

Plasmid-mediated AmpC enzymes including CMY (the most common), DHA, and MOX hydrolyze cephalosporins (including third-generation drugs) and are not inhibited by clavulanate or tazobactam. They can be transferred between bacterial species, making them an important resistance threat.

Detection of DHA, MOX, or CMY in molecular testing identifies organisms requiring carbapenems or newer combinations for treatment. Sample type is typically a culture isolate or direct clinical specimen.
