This streamlined CBC evaluates the core blood cell parameters: red blood cell count and indices, total white blood cell count, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and platelet count. It is useful when a healthcare provider needs a general blood health screen but does not require the detailed white blood cell breakdown provided by a differential.
This panel is often used for routine wellness exams, monitoring of stable chronic conditions, follow-up testing where a baseline differential has already been established, and pre-procedural screening. If abnormalities are detected — such as an elevated white count — a reflex differential can be added. Sample type is whole blood in an EDTA tube.
