blaPER

blaPER is a Class A ESBL found in Pseudomonas, Acinetobacter, and certain Enterobacterales. It hydrolyzes cephalosporins including third-generation agents, requiring carbapenems or newer combinations for effective treatment.

Detection of blaPER in molecular testing helps guide antibiotic selection in serious gram-negative infections. Sample type is typically a culture isolate or direct clinical specimen.
