IgG antibodies to Aspergillus reflect exposure and immune response to the mold, rather than allergic sensitization. Elevated levels are seen in allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA), chronic pulmonary aspergillosis, and hypersensitivity pneumonitis from inhaled mold spores.
This test is used to support the diagnosis of ABPA, evaluate chronic respiratory symptoms in patients with possible mold exposure, and investigate suspected hypersensitivity pneumonitis. Results are interpreted alongside imaging, IgE testing, and clinical findings. Sample type is serum.
