ANTIGLIADIN IGG (NATIVE)

Gliadin is one of the gluten proteins that triggers immune reactions in patients with celiac disease and non-celiac gluten sensitivity. Native gliadin antibodies can be useful in selected situations, although deamidated gliadin peptide antibodies have largely replaced them as more specific tests for celiac disease.

This test is most useful in patients with selective IgA deficiency (where IgA-based celiac tests can be falsely negative), in children too young for reliable IgA antibody testing, and as part of broader gluten sensitivity workup. A diagnosis of celiac disease typically still requires confirmation by tissue transglutaminase IgA and small-bowel biopsy. Sample type is serum.
