This profile combines screening by indirect immunofluorescence (which identifies cytoplasmic or perinuclear ANCA staining patterns) with specific ELISA testing for antibodies against proteinase 3 (PR3) and myeloperoxidase (MPO). Together these results help classify the type of ANCA-associated disease.
This profile is ordered when vasculitis is suspected — for example, in patients with unexplained sinus disease, lung nodules or bleeding, renal involvement, peripheral neuropathy, or multisystem inflammation. Results guide diagnosis, treatment selection, and monitoring of disease activity. Sample type is serum.
